Ezdrummer in it's current state does not have the required amount of memory to fully implement this feature. This is why we can't get drum machine play outs to sound like real drum kits - EZD needs about the same amount special RAM as someone running a DAW. This is an example of what might happen if you request features that do not exist on the platform yet (read: If you get salty, feel free to say "Unrealistic"). So we suggest waiting until we can make this work for everyone by adding more RAM special banks and banks 2 and 4, and maybe some fun customizations like percussion pads. We aren't making any promises or timelines on when this will ever happen, but we would like to in the future and we will in the future. On a more positive note: you can skip ahead in the track and adjust drums in real time. Also, general connectivity and usability issues have been improved significantly with the next major release - we really recommend upgrading when it comes out. A good metal drummer doesn't exaggerate gating as much as a jazz drummer would, so to compensate for this we'll time-stretch all loops by 50%. This way if you play something out of time your drums will be right on key, which is crucial for metal. The basic idea for this feature came from a real-life event. I recently attended a drum clinic and the instructor had a digital drum set hooked up to his computer. He used it, and it sounded pretty badass, but then he asked "so what would happen if I only allowed the beat to ring for 1/32 note? What would that sound like?" And that got us thinking about how EZD could handle each hit in drums without requiring an instrument map. So when we wrote the code for this function we were like: "Ok. Hit 1 and 2 play out simultaneously. Then hit 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7..." A metal drummer would never activate the ghost notes. So we disabled them completely because what's the point of having a feature that you won't even use? The idea behind this is to make it easier for you to play in time - especially on faster tempos (200bpm+) - which is really helpful for fast double bass lines or blast beats. So if you make a small error in your drum pattern, it will attempt to put each hit back on time by correcting where necessary. This is something that we didn't focus on for drum tracks. It's definitely cool, but more of a utility for musicians who are more interested in real time performance. So to make this work with metal, each hit will be stretched by 0.5% (100ms). One metal drummer probably wouldn't care about this, but if you're an orchestrator trying to layer several tracks over each other on the same song then it's really helpful. You can also use this feature to mask out some of your hits when you want to get your mix private before sending it out for mastering. cfa1e77820
