In today's time, one of the most important works in history is a book named 'Manusmriti' which is actually a Sanskrit text written by Dr. Ved Vyas and translated into Gujarati by Narsinh Mehta in 1884. It is considered to be one of the most important books of Hinduism and hence has unparalleled relevance for all Indians whether they are Hindu or not. In fact, it is believed that Manusmriti was given by Lord Krishna to Sanatan Dharm Parivar. With this book in hand, Hindus can follow their spiritual path with peace and contentment knowing that their actions are governed by their own dharma. It is one of the eighteen books of the divine law portion in the Shurupakar Upanishad, a Sanskrit text in Hinduism, whose authorship is attributed to Saraswati. The text consists of 6,000 verses. The last verse in each chapter has a name alluding to one or more characters from Indian mythology. The various chapters are devoted to different topics including Dharma, Artha, Kama and minor topics like others in Hindu texts. The knowledge of Dharma is said to have been born from the previous evolutions, creation, war and destruction. The chapters on Dharma aim to lay down rules for life in this world. While the chapters on Artha and Kama offer guidelines for conduct in this life and beyond.
